What Kind of Care Does an Exotic Pet Need?
Exotic small mammals and reptiles all benefit from seeing their veterinarian at least once a year for a physical examination, a discussion about their care and behaviors at home, and any recommended lab work to screen for disease. Exotic pets are similar to dogs and cats in that they are skilled at hiding illness, but this can lead to severe and possibly life-threatening problems for them.
In addition to routine physical examinations, we can also provide:
- Routine blood and fecal testing
- Recommendations for nutrition, housing, husbandry, and more
- Vaccinations (for certain species only)
- X-rays to check for issues or diagnose an existing problem
