Dental Care

Did you know that by age three, most dogs and cats have some symptoms of periodontal (dental) disease? And it’s about more than just bad breath: left untreated it can eventually result in gum inflammation, tooth loss and reabsorption, trouble eating, pain, and in later stages might even threaten your pet’s life.

Shawsheen Animal Hospital takes a proactive approach to dental care because preventing dental problems is far less expensive than treating them. Our comprehensive dental services include:

For your pet’s safety, we perform all dental services under anesthesia. We also require pre-anesthetic blood work so we can be certain that there aren’t any underlying health issues.

Please don’t neglect your pet’s dental health! Symptoms of periodontal disease are:

  • Bad breath
  • Red or swollen gums
  • Loose teeth
  • Brownish tartar buildup along the gum line
  • Change in appetite

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, please be sure to bring it to our attention at your pet’s next exam, or schedule an exam if you don’t have one already booked. Give us a call at (978) 851-5558 to request an appointment, or fill out an appointment request online.
