Managing Pain with Pet Laser Therapy
Does your pet have a chronic condition such as arthritis? Or an acute injury? Or maybe has just had surgery? Pet laser therapy could be the answer to relieving their pain without medications. Our laser therapy device is used by trained technicians on your pet’s affected area. With advanced technology, concentrated light energy penetrates deep into damaged tissue and stimulates blood flow and cellular activity which both reduces pain and inflammation and promotes healing. We’re proud to offer the Tewksbury community this innovative veterinary service.
How We Use Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is useful for a very wide range of conditions. We recommend it for conditions including, but not limited to:
- Degenerative joint disease
- Hip dysplasia
- Post-surgical recovery
- Lick granulomas, hot spots, and other skin conditions
The number and length of pet laser therapy sessions will depend on your pet’s condition. Post-surgical recovery and wound healing may only need one session to stimulate healing, while chronic conditions such as arthritis will require a series of sessions. Laser therapy is cumulative, meaning subsequent sessions will build off one another and in time, the frequency will diminish. So, if your pet starts off with two sessions per week, in time, they may decrease to one session a week, then one session every two weeks, etc. Your veterinarian will discuss your pet’s unique laser therapy plan with you at your appointment.
