Dr. Shawn LeBlanc
A native of Massachusetts, Dr. LeBlanc grew up in Waltham. He first became interested in becoming a veterinarian during his early childhood, when he realized that he had a fondness for animals. That interest continued throughout high school and his undergraduate studies. Dr. LeBlanc completed his undergraduate studies at Suffolk University, where he met his business partner and good friend, Dr. Michele Caruso. Together, they went to veterinary school and both graduated from Ross University in 1997.
After graduation, Dr. LeBlanc worked in private practice for several years in New York before moving back to Massachusetts to work in emergency medicine. He had been working in emergency medicine for four years when the opportunity came along to purchase a practice with Dr. Caruso. Having known each other for many years and working well together, they purchased Shawsheen Animal Hospital in April 2001. They have worked very hard ever since to increase the level and quality of care that pets receive in Tewksbury and surrounding communities. Today, they are proud to be part of a wonderful community who care for and treasure their pets, considering them family.
Dr. LeBlanc has a special interest in emergency medicine, surgery, and preventive wellness. He looks forward to working with the community as the animal’s advocate and continuing to provide excellent wellness and care.
Dr. Michele Caruso
Dr. Caruso graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, MA, in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in science. She then traveled to Ross University, located on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Kitts, for her veterinary education. She graduated from veterinary school in 1997 after completing her clinical rotations at Louisiana State Veterinary School in Baton Rouge.
Dr. Caruso opened Shawsheen Animal Hospital in April of 2001 with Dr. LeBlanc, with whom she’s been friends for over 20 years. They attended undergraduate as well as veterinary school together. She is very proud of the medicine, health care team, and customer service that are provided at Shawsheen Animal Hospital.
When not at work. Dr. Caruso enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Mark Fagan
Dr. Fagan grew up in Queens, NY, with his Basset Hound, Mugsy, and his Cairn Terrier, Sunny. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in 2009. While attending Tufts, he fell in love with the greater Boston area and met his future wife, who grew up in Tewksbury. He then earned his doctorate from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, in 2013. He was thrilled to return to Massachusetts to join the Shawsheen Animal Hospital team.
Dr. Fagan’s professional interests include preventive medicine, dentistry, general surgery, and small mammals (ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.). His favorite activity is spending time with his family: his wife (Susan), his daughter (Victoria), two dogs (Frank, a Portuguese Podengo Pequeño, and Moose, an English Pointer mix), and a cat (Rippie, a Bengal cat).
